Usage

The solenoid valve is used in multi zone extinguishing systems. It serves the control of the selector valve of the

corresponding extinguishing zone at multi zone plants without mechanical time delay devices and without pneu-

matic horns. Or it can be used for pneumatic activation of corresponding extinguishing cylinders or as a STOP

valve.

Description

In stand by position the 3-2 way valve has no electrical potential at its solenoid, has no pilot pressure at its

ports and is closed. The back pressure is vented.

Manual activation is not possible.

A LED within the plug informs about electrical activation status.

The valve has no mechanical metal spring, but a so called "air spring". Is the valve fixed and the outlet on

port 2 f.e. connected to the drive gear, as soon as port 1 gets pressure (far below 1bar) the valve changes to

start position (= closed 1-->2) within milliseconds. There is no danger that the drive gear and selector valve

will actuate (or other following components) because port 2 -> 3 will vent immediately.

Used as selector control valve (module Xa): Due to fire detection in an extinguishing zone and an extinguishing command from the central unit the corresponding selector control valve is undelayed activated and opens. The control gas flows via an (optional) blocking device to the drive gear of the corresponding selector valve of the corresponding zone. At vent port 3 the fixation of a filter/silencer FIT-FIL is recommended. Reason: Safekeeping of free venting by preventing of lairs of insects.

Installation guidelines Location Used as selector control valve: The inlet side corresponds to the gas pressure from the control cylinder reduced by a pressure reduction station. The outlet port is connected to the (optional blocking device) and from there to the drive gear of the corresponding selector valve. Used as group control valve: The inlet side corresponds to the gas pressure from the control cylinder reduced by a pressure reduction station.

Connection of the electrical part 1. Push the electrical plug to the corresponding pins of the valve body. 2. Join the two parts with a screw. Do not twist, bend, or pull the control line. Maintenance guidelines Warning! Removal, replacement or repair of the valve or actuator seals by any party other than Siemens is prohibited. To ensure that a selector control valve will remain functional following long periods of inactivity, it must be operated pneumatically at least every year.
