Heart Anatomy
HeartView CT is a clinical application package specifi-
cally tailored to cardiovascular CT studies.
Important Anatomical Structures of the Heart
Four chambers:
• Right atrium – receives the deoxygenated blood
from the body circulation through the superior and
inferior vena cava, and pumps it into the right ventri-
cle.
• Right ventricle – receives the deoxygenated blood
from the right atrium, and pumps it into the pulmo-
nary circulation through the pulmonary arteries.
• Left atrium – receives the oxygenated blood from
the pulmonary circulation through the pulmonary
veins, and pumps it into the left ventricle.
• Left ventricle – receives the oxygenated blood from
the left atrium, and pumps it into the body circula-
tion through the aorta.
