Use the SIEMENS Model SXL-EX-UK kit to
upgrade the SXL-EX system firmware to the
latest released firmware.
INSTALLATION GUIDELINES
Carefully follow the installation instructions below
to upgrade the SXL-EX firmware.
CAUTION
Electronic equipment is extremely vulnerable
to static discharge. Extreme care should be
taken when performing this upgrade.
1. Notify the person in charge of the fire alarm
system (and the Fire Department if they are
connected to the SXL-EX) that the control
panel will be temporarily out of service while
the firmware upgrade is installed.
2. Confirm your configuration by entering the
programming mode at all levels. Compare the
indicated configuration with your copy of
Table 7, Programming Sheet, found in the
SXL-EX Manual, P/N 315-095997. First make
corrections to Table 7, if necessary.
3. Power down the system, battery first, then
the AC.
4. Remove U9, SXL-EX firmware. Do this by
lifting one end of the IC slightly, then the
other end. Continue this process until the IC
comes free. Use a short, thin blade
screwdriver for best results.
5. Remove the new SXL-EX IC from its
packaging materials and check to see that all
of the pins are straight. Straighten any that
are not.
6. Place the new SXL-EX IC in the socket for
U9. Locate the notch in the end of the IC to
the left as indicated by the silkscreen outline
on the PC board. Be sure that all of the pins
go into the proper socket holes. Press down
firmly to seat the IC properly.
7. Power up the system, AC first, then battery.
