More security for KNX
installations
Increasing security requirements for
KNX installations in intelligent buildings
make secure communication via
networks essential. Any security flaws
in building automation can make it
possible to copy and read data and thus
enable unauthorized operation and
reading of the functions in the building.
Manipulation of lighting systems,
heating regulation systems, and their
processes in building technology poses
a potential risk to the secure operation
of buildings.
Why KNX IP Secure?
The new KNX IP Secure standard
ensures secure transfer of data tele-
grams between KNX IP routers within
the IP network. This secures runtime
communication via IP as well as
commissioning via ETS.
Maximum data protection
In addition to tried and tested security
measures such as the mechanical
protection of KNX devices (locked utility
rooms and control cabinets, special
fastening screws, etc.) and correct KNX
cabling, the new KNX IP Secure
products offer additional access
protection via IP networks. The KNXnet/
IP protocol is enhanced by KNX IP
Secure in such a way that all transferred
data telegrams are encrypted. This mini-
mizes the risk of unauthorized access by
third parties and guarantees maximum
data security.
More flexibility
In addition to conventional DC/AC 24V
power supply options, the devices also
offer alternative Power over Ethernet
(PoE) supply, and the additional power
ensures minimal KNX bus power
consumption.
