Models VPM, VPM-MP and VESDA-HLI-KIT
Product Overview
The Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus (VESDA)
Peripheral Module (Model VPM) and the VESDA High-
Level Interface Kit (Model VESDA-HLI-KIT) are optional
FireFinder XLS modules that work in conjunction to
provide bi-directional communication between the
FireFinder XLS fire alarm control panel (FACP) and
multiple VESDA detection networks for the following
types of VESDA detectors:
▪ FireTRACER
▪ LaserCOMPACT
▪ LaserFOCUS
Model VPM allows each FireFinder XLS FACP to
annunciate ‘Alert,’ ‘Action,’ ‘Fire 1,’ and ‘Fire 2’ levels, as
well as provide ‘faults’ from any zone on a connected
VESDA network.
Model VPM allows Model PMI to annunciate detailed
Trouble-event codes sent by VESDAnet. When used
with VESDAScanners, Model PMI displays the events to
an individual pipe.
The VPM Mounting plate (Model VPM-MP) allows
mounting one (1) Model VPM and two (2) of Model
VESDA-HLI-KIT inside a standard FireFinder XLS Model
CAB1, Model CAB2 or Model CAB3 enclosures. Model
VPM-MP utilizes two (2) module spaces on a single
row of each enclosure.
The VESDAnet Socket Card provides the terminals to
connect the VESDAnet field wiring as well as the 24VDC
power for the ‘HLI’ board. The card is mounted on a
Model VPM-MP stand-offs. Additional stand-offs are
available on Model VPM-MP should a second card be
needed.
Specifications
Model VPM contains two (2) RS─232 serial ports for
connection to two (2) independent VESDA high-level
interfaces.
Model VESDA-HLI-KIT includes one (1) set of the following
devices:
▪ VESDA high-level interface
▪ VESDAnet socket
▪ 10-position, 9” cable
▪ 3-wire, 6” cable
✓ The 9-inch cable is for connection between
Model VPM and Model VESDA HLI.
✓ The 6” cable connects Model VESDA HLI to
the VESDAnet socket.
✓ The VESDAnet socket is for connection to
the VESDA network (VESDAnet).
