Product Overview
The SCALANCE X204-2—series of Ethernet Fiber
Switches from Siemens
─ Fire Safety are used to
maintain a ‘Class X’ (Style 7) ring configuration or
‘Class B’ (Style 4) wiring configuration for
communication between Siemens fire-alarm
control panels (FACPs) and the system-equipped
buildings within a campus that contain a Siemens
fire-with-voice network:
 the Multi-Mode Switch is Model SCALANCE X204-2
 the Single-Mode Switch

All required monitoring for ring-configuration
durability of FACPs on the network are monitored
via Style 7 and Style 4. Specifically, the Style 7
configuration will automatically restore the
Trouble
–event condition, if the fault is corrected.
Any ring failure is immediately reported via the
Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP).
Each Ethernet fiber switch, which obtains its
primary power from a 24-Volt,

supply, provides connectors for the fiber cable -
