Beforeȱyouȱcan ȱbeginȱusingȱtheȱAirCard,ȱyouȱmust:
1. InstallȱtheȱAirCardȱenablingȱsoftwareȱandȱdriver.
2. ActivateȱanȱaccountȱandȱconfigureȱtheȱAirCardȱtoȱuseȱyourȱ
accountȱ(unlessȱtheȱAirCardȱhasȱbeenȱpreȬactivated).
Thisȱsectionȱprovidesȱanȱoverviewȱofȱthisȱprocess.
The AirCard 595 software
TheȱAirCardȱcomesȱwithȱthisȱsoftware:
• WatcherȱapplicationȱthatȱyouȱuseȱtoȱmanageȱtheȱAirCardȱ
andȱmonitorȱyourȱconnections
• Theȱdriverȱsoftwareȱthatȱprovidesȱtheȱinterfaceȱbetweenȱ
theȱAirCardȱandȱyourȱWindowsȱoperatingȱsystem
TheȱWatcherȱsoftwareȱmustȱbeȱinstalledȱbeforeȱyouȱinsertȱtheȱ
AirCardȱforȱtheȱfirstȱtime.ȱDetailedȱinstructionsȱareȱprovidedȱinȱ

configuration
ToȱuseȱtheȱAirCard,ȱyouȱmustȱhaveȱanȱaccountȱwithȱaȱCDMA ȱ
serviceȱprovider.ȱTheȱprocessȱofȱsettingȱupȱanȱaccountȱisȱcalledȱ
activation.
IfȱyouȱpurchasedȱtheȱAirCardȱdirectlyȱfromȱa ȱserviceȱprovider,ȱ
youȱmayȱalreadyȱhaveȱanȱaccount;ȱyourȱAirCardȱmayȱbeȱpreȬ
activated.
Otherwise,ȱrunȱWatcherȱandȱthe ȱActivationȱWizard,ȱwhichȱ
guidesȱyouȱthroughȱtheȱactivationȱandȱconfigurationȱprocess.ȱ
(Dependingȱonȱyourȱconfiguration,ȱWatcherȱandȱtheȱActivationȱ
Wizardȱmayȱstartȱautomatically.)
ConfiguringȱtheȱAirCardȱinvolvesȱsettingȱtheȱphoneȱnumberȱ
assignedȱbyȱyourȱserviceȱproviderȱandȱmayȱinvolveȱenteringȱ
otherȱnetworkȱparametersȱandȱsettingsȱsuchȱasȱaȱuserȱnameȱ
andȱ
passwordȱtoȱaccessȱservices.
