3: RF Integration
RF connection
Considerthefollowingwhenattachinganantennatothe
module:
Note: To disconnect the
antenna, make sure you use the
Hirose U.FL connector removal
tool (P/N UFL-LP-N-2(01) to
prevent damage to the module
or coaxial cable assembly.
• UseaHiroseU.FLconnector(model
U.FL #CL331‐0471‐0‐10)toattachanantennatoa
connectionpointonthemodule,asshowninFigure 3‐1
(ThemainRFconnectoronthetopside;thediversityRF
connectoronthebottomside).
• Matchcoaxialconnectionsbetweenthemoduleandthe
antennato50 Ω.
• MinimizeRFcablelossestotheantenna;therecommended
maximumcablelossforantennacablingis0.5 dB.

Ground connection
Whenconnectingthemoduletosystem ground:
• Preventnoiseleakagebyestablishinga verygoodground
connectiontothemodulethroughthehostconnector.
• Connecttosystemgroundusingthetwomountingholesat
thetopofthemodule(asshowninFigure 3‐1).
• MinimizegroundnoiseleakageintotheRF.
Dependingonthehostboarddesign,noisecouldpotentially
becoupledtothemodulefromthehostboard.Thisis
mainlyanissueforhostdesignsthathavesignalstraveling
alongthelengthofthemodule,orcircuitryoperatingat
bothendsofthe
moduleinterconnects.
