SilverCrest DS-1220T English Getting started The camera functions with a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery. On delivery, the battery is not charged. Please charge the battery before first use of the camera. Charging the Battery Insert the rechargeable battery in the charger Scope DJ04V20500A so that the contacts [+] and [-] correspond to the rechargeable battery and charging tray markings. Next connect the smaller plug of the power cord to the charger and plug the power cord to a wall outlet.
English SilverCrest DS-1220T Inserting the Battery When the battery is fully charged, insert it into the camera as below. 1 Open the camera battery compartment by pushing the lock in the direction of the arrow mark. 2 The cover will spring open through a spring mechanism. 3 Move the unlock button to the side and then place the rechargeable battery with the marking orientated towards the camera front panel into the battery compartment.
SilverCrest DS-1220T English To remove the rechargeable battery push the unlock button located inside the camera outwards. The rechargeable battery will protrude a little so that you can get a hold of it and remove it. If the rechargeable battery is empty, the message Replace battery will appear on the display [10] and a beep can be heard. Make sure that the camera is switched off before you remove the rechargeable battery.
English SilverCrest DS-1220T 3 Insert the memory card with the contacts towards the front side of the camera into the card compartment and push it into the housing. The memory card clicks into place. 4 Close the battery compartment cover by pressing down the cover flap onto the housing of the camera. 5 Slide the lock outwards until it locks in place. Now the battery compartment is locked. To remove the memory card, open the battery compartment cover and gently press on the inserted card.
SilverCrest DS-1220T English Write-Protecting a Memory Card SD memory cards feature a write-protection tab. When write protection is enabled (see the right figure below) you will only be able to view any existing pictures, but not delete or edit them. Also, it will not be possible to record any new pictures onto the memory card.

SilverCrest DS-1220T English Using the Zoom Function Your camera features a combination of optical and digital zoom allowing you to zoom in on distant subjects or to zoom out for wide-angle shots. The optical zoom adjusts the camera lens mechanically. The digital zoom enlarges or reduces the picture via software control. In Recording mode, select the desired subject area by pressing the zoom buttons. Press the Zoom Tele button [5] to reduce the zoom factor and obtain a telephoto shot.
English SilverCrest DS-1220T Using the Flash The flash [11] doesn't only enhance the brightness under bad lighting conditions. You can also use it for backlight shots or when the subject is located in shadow. Open the Recording menu whilst in capture mode in order to select a flash setting. Tap the Tap on the button that indicates the current flash setting. An option button to open the Record menu. bar with the available settings (see the figure) is displayed. SilverCrest DS-1220T English Depending on the chosen programme it is possible that not all the flash settings are available. The flash cannot be used for burst and movie recordings. Histogram The histogram shows the brightness distribution of the picture in recording mode (see page 19, item 15) and in playback mode (see page 20, item 3). If the graphic is accentuated on the left, the picture is very dark; if it is accentuated on the right, the picture is very bright.
English SilverCrest DS-1220T Stabilizer The stabilizer helps you via smart electronics, a higher sensitivity and, if necessary, faster shutter speed to obtain non-shaky/blurred pictures. You can use the stabilizer if no tripod is available or when attempting to capture a subject in motion. Press the Picture Stabilizer button [3] to switch the stabilizer on or off. When enabling this function, the icon will be displayed.

Black and white Converts your images to black and white pictures. Sepia Captured images will be saved in sepia tones (giving them a vintage look). Touch Shot By tapping on the focus area you can move it within the displayed rectangle. When you stop touching the display, the automatic function is enabled and the picture will be captured. Face Tracking The camera will focus on the main person aimed at and auto-adjust the metering if the person moves. Flash Intensity Select the flash intensity in order to improve exposure.

English SilverCrest DS-1220T Photo Frame This function offers you seven different frames that you can add to your pictures, if required. To use it, enable the function and return to Record mode. This function is not available for 3:2 and 16:9 HD resolutions. If the picture resolution exceeds 3 megapixels (3M), the resolution will be downgraded automatically to 3 megapixels when applying a photo frame. Sharpness You can select whether you want your pictures to have soft or hard contours.
SilverCrest DS-1220T English Saturation Here you can set the saturation. Use a high saturation to obtain vivid colours and a low saturation for natural colours. The camera detects the environmental conditions from multiple parameters and automatically selects a suitable scene mode. Add Memo With this option you can attach a graphical memo to a picture. Select the desired tool and then press the display toggle button [9] to start editing.

DPOF DPOF (Digital Print Order Format) allows you to embed printing information on your memory card.

SilverCrest DS-1220T English Using the Thumbnail View The thumbnail view allows you to show 12 pictures at the same time on the display [10]. This feature helps you find a specific picture faster and to obtain a better overview of your recordings. Press the Zoom Wide button [6] while in Playback mode. The display shows a row of pictures that you can browse by using the left/right arrow buttons. Press the Zoom Wide button [6] again to enable the thumbnail view.
English SilverCrest DS-1220T Trimming Pictures This function allows you to enlarge a specific picture portion and trim it, if required. The maximum enlargement sometimes depends on the captured picture's resolution. To select a specific portion of an image and save it as a new image: Press the Zoom Tele button [5] while in Playback mode. The current picture will be enlarged (see figure). Enlarged portion Zoom factor Press the Zoom Tele button [5] or tap the icon to continue enlarging the view.
SilverCrest DS-1220T English Tap the YES button to save the trimmed picture under a new name or tap the NO button to disregard all changes and to not save the edited picture or tap Overwrite to overwrite the original picture with the edited one.
English SilverCrest DS-1220T Advanced settings Setup Menu The Setup menu offers basic options for customising the handling and functionality of your camera. This menu can be accessed from any of the main menus and can be recognised by a tool icon (see the figure). The menu contents depend on whether you open it from the Record or from the Playback menu. For more information about the different Setup menu items, see the following pages.
SilverCrest DS-1220T English Memory Kit Format This function lets you delete all contents from your memory card and renew the file saving structure on your card (formatting). Select Yes to remove all the contents from the memory card or select No to go back to the Setup menu without applying any changes. Warning! Formatting will delete all pictures, video clips and voice recordings from your memory card. Make sure that all recordings that you want to keep have been backed-up on a different medium.
English SilverCrest DS-1220T Digital Zoom Besides the 3x optical zoom, your camera features a 12x digital zoom. You can enable it here, if desired. Digital zoom is an electronic enlargement of a portion of the image and will cause a lower picture quality than the optical zoom.
SilverCrest DS-1220T English LCD Brightness You can set the display [10] brightness in two levels: Option Description Bright Bright setting for use under strong sun illumination. Normal Standard brightness. Power-Saving Function When the camera is left powered on but not used, it will power off the LCD [10] automatically after the preset time. Press any button to re-activate the LCD display.
English SilverCrest DS-1220T Hot Key The Record menu (see page 29) contains three programmable buttons. You can assign any custom function to these buttons. Hotkeys Proceed as follows to program the hotkeys: Tap on the hotkey that you want to change. Select the desired function that you want to assign to the hotkey. Repeat this procedure if you want to program more hotkeys. Confirm the programming by tapping the button or tap 72 to cancel the process without any changes.

SilverCrest DS-1220T English Connectors and Ports Viewing Recordings on a Television Screen Any pictures that you can view on the camera display [10] can also be played back on a regular TV set. For this, your television set must have an appropriate Video In connector. Use the supplied AV cable to connect the product to a television set. Please make sure that your camera is powered off. Insert the AV cable connection jack into the connection port of your camera.
English SilverCrest DS-1220T Shutter [4] Starts or stops the video playback. Playback mode [8] Starts or stops a slide show. Display [10] Shows or hides the available function buttons. If the picture is only displayed in black and white on the TV make sure that the TV system setting is correct for your TV (see page 71 – TV Out). Power the camera off prior to connecting or disconnecting the AV cable to/from the camera.
