WHAT’S INCLUDED? • AC adapter • Carrying pouch • Carrying strap (attached) • Owner’s manual POWER SOURCES Power the G5 by installing 4 AA alkaline, lithium or Ni-MH batteries or by plugging in the included AC adapter. A symbol appears in the upper right of the LCD, indicating battery or AC adapter power.
G5 OWNER’S MANUAL F1-7 DUAL FUNCTION BUTTON DIAGRAM The F1-7 buttons have dual functions, noted on the diagram under the G5’s rear tilt flap. CHARGING Ni-MH BATTERIES IN THE G5 With its included AC adapter/charger connected, the G5 internally recharges 4 Ni-MH (nickel-metal-hydride) rechargeable batteries (not included). Note that the G5 can still play while the batteries are charging and the alarm functions will work. To charge batteries: 1.
G5 OWNER’S MANUAL SETTING UP AM AND FM OUTSIDE OF NORTH AMERICA To use the G5 in North America (U.S. or Canada), no changes to the initial factory settings are needed. In North America, AM stations are spaced by 10 KHz. In Europe and other areas, they are spaced by 9 KHz. In North America, the FM band begins at 87.5 MHz. In other parts of the world, it may begin at 87 MHz or 76 MHz. Follow these steps to set this for your area: 1.
G5 OWNER’S MANUAL VOLUME CONTROL With the G5 on or off, use the +-/VOL buttons or the numeric keypad to adjust to volume levels 0-31. The level number appears in the display. To adjust the volume with the numeric keypad, enter the desired volume level and press either the + or – VOL button within 3 seconds. SELECTING FM, AM and SHORTWAVE Turn on the G5. To select LW/AM press the AM BAND button; for FM press the FM BAND button.
G5 OWNER’S MANUAL OPTIMIZING SHORTWAVE RECEPTION Shortwave enables listening to broadcasts over vast distances including other countries and continents. The following information will help you get the best results. • During the day, frequencies above 13 MHz are usually best. • At night, frequencies below 13 MHz are usually best. • Around sunset and sunrise, the entire shortwave range may be good. • Getting very close to a window and holding the radio improves shortwave reception.
G5 OWNER’S MANUAL USING THE DX/LOCAL SWITCH continued strong stations seem distorted, then use LOCAL. This switch does not function in FM mode. TUNING IN STATIONS Turn on the G5. Stations are tuned with the Buttons, Tuning-Knob, Direct Frequency Entry and Auto-Search. Quick, s hort, sequential presses of the buttons enables tuning up or down frequency. Alternately, the TUNING knob can be used. Continuous tuning in shortwave can only be done with the tuning knob and via direct frequency entry.
G5 OWNER’S MANUAL AUTO-SEARCH TUNING continued auto searching shortwave stations, place the bandwidth switch into the WIDE position. STOP: Auto-searching stops on the next encountered station. D-5: Auto-searching stops for 5 seconds on each next encountered station, then moves on. ATS: (Auto Tuning Storage): Auto-searching automatically stores the strongest FM local stations into memories starting with page 99 and counting downward until all are stored, e.g. 98, 97, 96, etc.

G5 OWNER’S MANUAL SETTING THE CLOCK AND WEEKDAY The G5’s clock is in 24-hour format. Turn off the G5. 1. With the G5 off, press the PAGE/TIME button for about 2 seconds or until the hour digits start flashing. 2. Within 3 seconds, use the tuning knob to set the correct hour; then press F1-7 to highlight the days you wish the alarm to activate. 3. Immediately press PAGE/TIME again, noting that the minute digits start flashing. 4. Within 3 seconds, use the tuning knob to set the correct minutes. 5.

To select the desired memory page (00-99) use the buttons or hold down the STORE button and use the tuning knob. 5. While holding down the STORE button, press one of buttons F17, storing the station into that memory. Note that a box appears around the selected memory location. 6. Release the STORE button. 7. To store another station, tune to the station and repeat steps 4-6 above. 8.
G5 OWNER’S MANUAL CHECKING MEMORY CAPACITY Turn on the G5. While holding down the CHECK button, turn the tuning knob to select memory pages. Empty memories do not have the box around them. ACCESSING STORED MEMORIES 1. Turn on the G5 and enter MEMO mode by pressing the PAGE/ TIME button, causing MEMO to appear in the display. 2. Select the desired memory page with the buttons. 3. Select the desired memory with buttons F1-7. ERASING A SELECTED MEMORY 1.

MEMO appears in the display. 2. Use the buttons to select the desired memory page. 3. Press the EDIT button until ‘_’ appears in the display (about 3 seconds). 4. Use the tuning knob to select the desired number or letter. 5. Press the PAGE/TIME button to select the next ‘_’. 6.

Press or hold down the STORE button and turn the tuning knob, selecting the paste-to page. 5. While holding down STORE press and release PAGE. This pastes the content of the page. USING THE PAGE COPY/PASTE FUNCTION The light illuminates the display and buttons. There are three light modes.
G5 OWNER’S MANUAL MUSIC/WIDE and NEWS/NARROW SWITCH Note the wide/narrow diagram in the display. AM/FM – The MUSIC/WIDE position creates a ‘brighter’ music sound. The NEWS/NARROW position creates a less ‘bright’ sound. Shortwave – The MUSIC/WIDE position creates the best audio fidelity. The NEWS/NARROW position helps to minimize interference from other stations.
G5 OWNER’S MANUAL REAR FOLDING STAND Pull the folding stand from the rear of the G5, allowing viewing at a comfortable angle. RESET BUTTON The reset button is located inside the small hole labeled RESET. If the G5 operates erratically, poke a paper clip into the reset hole to reset its microprocessor. This does not erase memory, but does reset the clock to 0:00. USING THE LOCK FEATURE With the G5 turned off, one press of the lock button prevents unwanted turn-on.
G5 OWNER’S MANUAL FM STEREO To hear FM in stereo via earphones or the LINE-OUT socket, press the ‘ST/MONO’ button while tuned to a FM station. Note that ‘STEREO’ appears in the display. Appuyer sur les touches rapidement en coups séquentiels et courts vous permet d’ajuster la fréquence en montant ou descendant. Le bouton TUNING peut être utilisé alternativement. Les ondes courtes ne peuvent être syntonisées en continu qu’à l’aide du bouton de syntonisation et de la saisie directe des fréquences.

ATS: (Auto Tuning Storage ou stockage d’auto ajustement): L’auto recherche sauvegarde automatiquement les stations FM locaux les plus puissants. Après la recherche ATS, si trop de mémoires sont remplies de statique, essayez une nouvelle recherche avec le commutateur DX/LOCAL à la position LOCAL. Pour choisir, un mode d’auto recherche: 1. Gardez la touche F6 appuyée pour environ 2 secondes, puis relâchez-la.
G5 MANUAL D’OPÉRATION UTILISER L’OPTION MÉMOIRE ATS ATS sauvegarde automatiquement les stations locales FM les plus puissantes dans la mémoire, en commençant par la page 99 et en continuant vers le bas jusqu’à ce qu’elles soient toutes sauvegardées (comme 99, 98, 97, etc… par exemple). RÉGLER VOTRE FUSEAU HORAIRE (Utiliser cette même procédure pour changer votre fuseau horaire en voyageant). 1. Des pressions rapides et courtes de la touche TIME ZONE (fuseau horaire) (13).
G5 MANUAL D’OPÉRATION AJUSTER L’HEURE ET LE JOUR DE LA SEMAINE L’horloge du G5 est en format de 24 heures. Appuyez sur une des touches 1-7 pour choisir le jour de la semaine dans la procédure de réglage de l’horloge en bas, tandis que les chiffres d’heure ou de minute clignotent dans les étapes 2 ou 4 : La touche 1 représente le dimanche. Le jour de la semaine choisi sera donc dans une boîte. 1.

Le G5 dispose de 4 minuteries d’alarme indépendamment programmables (touches F1-4) pour le mettre en marche à des heures spécifiques. De plus, chaque minuterie peut être programmée pour un jour de la semaine, volume, temps de jeu et location-mémoire spécifique.
G5 MANUAL D’OPÉRATION ACTIVER ET DÉACTIVER LES ALARMES Pour qu’une alarme mette la radio en marche, il faut qu’il soit activé. Pour activer l’alarme à utiliser, éteignez le G5 et appuyez sur la touche d’alarme appropriée, F1-4. Ceci cause l’apparition du symbole d’activation de la minuterie dans le coin haut à gauche de l’affichage, activant l’alarme choisie. Pour déactiver l’alarme, appuyez sur la touche F1-7 appropriée, causant le symbole d’activation d’alarme à disparaître.

Appuyez sur ou gardez la touche CHECK appuyée et tourner le bouton de réglage pour choisir la page à être copiée. 3. G5 MANUAL D’OPÉRATION TOUCHE STÉRÉO/MONO Ce commutateur choisit le mode stéréo ou mono en écoutant les stations FM. Choisissez stéréo en utilisant les casques d’écoute. Ce n’est pas un problème de le laisser sur stéréo quand vous n’utilisez pas les écouteurs. De toute façon, choisir mono en cas de faible signal FM pourrait améliorer celui-ci. TOUCHE MUSIC/WIDE (musique/large) et NEWS/NARROW (nouvelles/étroite) Notez le diagramme wide/narrow sur l’affichage.
G5 MANUAL D’OPÉRATION SUPPORT ARRIÈRE RÉTRACTABLE Tirez le support rétractable de l’arrière du G5, permettant de voir à un angle confortable. (voir plus bas) TOUCHE DE RÉINITIALISATION La touche de réinitialisation se situe dans le petit trou étiqueté RESET. Si le G5 se comporte erratiquement, enfoncez un trombone dans le trou à réinitialisation pour réinitialiser son microprocesseur. Ceci réinitialise l’horloge à 0:00 mais n’efface pas la mémoire.
