This table con
tains the typographical conventions that are u sed in PeopleBooks:
Typographical C onvention or Visual Cue
Description
Bold
Indicates PeopleCode fu nction names, business function
names, event names, system function names, method
names, language constructs, and PeopleCo de reserved
words that m ust b e included literally i n t he function call.
Italics Indicates field values, emphasis, and PeopleSoft
Enterprise or other book-len gth publication titles. In
PeopleCode syntax, italic items are placeholders for
arguments that your program m ust su pply.
We also use italics when we refer to words as words or
letters as letters, as i n t he following: Enter the letter O.
KEY+KEY
Indicates a key combination action. For exam ple, a plus
sign (+) between keys m eans that you must hold down
the first key while you press the second key. For A
LT+W,
hold dow n the A
LT key while you press the W key.
Monospace font
Indicates a PeopleCod e program or other code example.
“ ” (quotation marks) Indicate chapter titles in cross-references and w ords that
are used differently from their intended m eanin gs.
. . . (ellipses) Indicate that the preceding item or series can be repeated
any number o f times in PeopleCod e syntax.
{ } (curly braces) Indicate a choice between two option s in PeopleCode
syntax. Options are separated by a pipe ( | ).
