Typographical Convention or Visual Cue
Description
[ ] (square brackets) Indicate optional items in PeopleCo de syntax.
& (ampersand) When placed before a parameter in PeopleC ode syntax,
an ampersand indicates that the p aram eter is an already
instantiated object.
Ampersands also precede all PeopleCode variables.

Country, Region, and Industry Identifiers
Inf
ormation that applies only to a specific country, region, or industry is preceded by a standard identifier in
par
entheses. This identifier typically appears a t the beginning of a section heading, but it may also appear
at t
he beginning of a note or other text.
Example of a country-specific heading: “(FRA) Hiring an Employee”
Example of a region-specific heading: “(Latin America) Setting Up Depreciation”

Countries are identified with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) country code.
