incentive rule In PeopleSoft Enterprise Sales Incentive M anagem ent, the commands that act on
transactions
and turn them in to compensation. A rule is one p a rt in the process of
turning a transaction into compensation.
incur In PeopleSoft
Enterprise Promotions Ma nagem ent, to become liable fo r a promotional
payment. In other word s, y ou owe that am oun t t o a customer for promotional
activities.
initiative In PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solu tio ns, the basis from which all advan cemen t
plans are executed. It is an organized effort targeting a specific constituency, and it can
occur over a s
pecified period of time w ith specific purpo ses and goals. An initiative
can be a campaign, an event, an organized volunteer effort, a membership drive, or
any other type of effort defined by the institution. Initiatives can be multipart, and
they can be r
elated to other initiatives. This enables you to track individual parts of an
initiative, as well as entire initiatives.

integration A relationship between two compatible integration points that enables communication
to take pl
ace between systems. Integrations enable Peop leSoft Enterprise applications
to work seamlessly with other P eopleSo ft Enterprise applicat ions or with third-party
systems or softw are.
integration point An interface that a system uses to communicate w ith another PeopleSoft E nterprise
application or an external application.
integration set A logical grouping of integrations that applications use for the same business purpose.
For example, the integration set ADVANCED_SHIPPING_ORD ER contains all of the
integr
ations that notify a customer that an order has shipped.
item In PeopleSoft Enterprise Inventory, a tangible commodity that is stored in a business
unit (s
hipped from a warehouse).
In PeopleSoft Enterprise D eman d Planning, Inventory Policy Planning, and Sup ply
Planning, a noninventory item that is designated as being used for planning purposes
only. I
t can represent a family or group of inventory items. It can have a planning bill
of material (BOM) or planning routing, and it can exist a s a component on a plannin g
BOM. A plann ing item cannot b e specified on a production or engineering BOM or
routi
ng, and it cannot be used as a comp onen t in a production. The quantity on hand
will never be maintained.
In PeopleSoft Enterprise Receivables, an individual receivable. An item can be an
invoi
ce, a credit memo, a debit memo, a write-off, or an adjustment.
item shuffl e In PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solutions, a p rocess that enables you t o change a
paym
ent allocation witho ut having to rev erse the paym ent.
itinerary In PeopleSoft Expenses, a collection of travel reservations. Itineraries can have
rese
rvations that are selected and reserved with the travel vendor. These itineraries are
not yet paid for and can be referred to as pending reservations. Reservatio ns that have
been paid for are referred to as confirmed reservations.
joint communication In PeopleS oft Enterprise Campus Solutions, one letter that is addressed joint ly to two
people. For example, a letter might b e addressed to both M r. Sudhir Awat and Ms.

the database, and at least one of the individuals must have an ID in the database.
