meta-SQL Meta-SQL con s tru c ts expand in to platform-specific SQL substrings. They are used in
functions tha
t pass SQL strings, such as in SQL objects, the SQLExec function, and
PeopleSoft Application Engine pro grams.
metastring Metastrings a
re special expressions included in SQ L string literals. The metastrings,
prefixed with a percent (%) symbol, are included directly in the string literals. They
expand at run time into an approp riate substring for the current database platform .
multibook In PeopleSoft Enterprise G eneral Ledger, multiple ledg e rs having multiple-base
currencies that are defined for a business unit, with the option to post a single
transaction
to all base curren c ies (all ledgers) or to only one of those base currencies
(ledgers).

need In PeopleSoft E nterprise Campus Solutions, the difference betw een the cost of
attendance (COA) and the expected family contribution (EFC ). It is the gap between
the cost o
f attending the school and the student’s resources. The financial aid package
is based on t he amount of financial need. The process of determining a student’s
need is called need analysis.
node-oriented tree A tree that is based on a detail structure, but the detail values are not used.

participant object Each participant object may be related to one or more compensation objects.

payment shuffle In PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus S olu tio ns, a process allowing payments that have
been previously posted to a student’s account to be automatically reapplied when a
hig
her priority payment is posted or the payment allocation definition i s changed.
pending item In PeopleSoft Enterprise Receivables, an individual receivable (such as an invoice,
acr
edit memo, or a write-off) that has been entered in o r c r eated by the system, but
hasn’t been posted.
