onthelocalareanetwork.AlistoftheseprogramsisdisplayedwhentheDataSource
dialogisopened.Insomenetworkcongurationsbroadcastingisnotapractical
solution,andinthesecasesthecommunicationmodecanbechangedfrombroadcast
topoint-to-pointandaspecicremoteIPaddressfortheserverwhichyouwantto
connecttocanbeset.
Parameters
1LocalIPAddress
ThisistheInternetProtocol(IP)addressofthelocalEthernetinterfaceboard.
Inmostcases,eachEthernetboardhasauniqueIPaddress,evenwhenaninterface
boardsupportsmultiplesockets.Ifyouhavemorethanoneinterfaceboard,youare
providedwithalistoftheavailableaddresses.
2RemoteIPAddress
SelecttheInternetProtocol(IP)addressfortheremotecomputer.
Ifthedatacommunicationissetuptoreceivedataonly,thisparameteris
notrequired.Ifyouwishtosetupanoutputforbroadcast,deneIPaddress
255.255.255.255.Thisisthedefaultsetting.
Ifyouusepoint-to-pointcommunicationinaclosednetwork,youneedtoenter
theremoteIPaddressmanually.
3Remoteport(UDP)
Specifythelocalnetworkport.TheEK60usesthisnetworkporttotransmit
information.Theapplicationontheremotecomputerwill“listen”tothisport
number.
4Communicationmode
ChooseBroadcastorPoint-to-Point.
BroadcastmodeenablesdatatobesentfromtheEK60toanynumberofremote
systems.Dataistherebyonlytransmittedtothesesystems.Theremotesystems
receivethedata,buttheEK60doesnotreceiveanyreplyoracknowledgement
fromthem.
Point-to-PointmodeimpliesthattheEK60isphysicallyconnectedonlytoone
singleremotesystem.Thevalueofsuchapermanentpoint-to-pointnetworkis
unimpededcommunicationsbetweenthetwoEK60andtheremotesystem.A
completetwo-waycommunicationsystemisthenused.
