TheLANPortSetupdialogallowsyoutodenetheparametersforEthernet(Local
AreaNetwork(LAN))communicationwithexternalsensors(measuringdevices)or
peripheralsystems.
Description
Ethernet(LocalAreaNetwork(LAN))
communicationisanefcientwayto
connecttoexternalsensors,suchasa
globalpositioningsystem(GPS)toreceive
navigationaldata.
Inorderforthiscommunicationport
towork,theparametersmustbesetup
properly.
Parameters
1LocalIPAddress
ThisistheInternetProtocol(IP)addressofthelocalEthernetinterfaceboard.
Inmostcases,eachEthernetboardhasauniqueIPaddress,evenwhenaninterface
boardsupportsmultiplesockets.Ifyouhavemorethanoneinterfaceboard,youare
providedwithalistoftheavailableaddresses.
2Communicationmode
ChooseBroadcastorPoint-to-Point.
BroadcastmodeenablesdatatobesentfromtheEK60toanynumberofremote
systems.Dataistherebyonlytransmittedtothesesystems.Theremotesystems
receivethedata,buttheEK60doesnotreceiveanyreplyoracknowledgement
fromthem.
Point-to-PointmodeimpliesthattheEK60isphysicallyconnectedonlytoone
singleremotesystem.Thevalueofsuchapermanentpoint-to-pointnetworkis
unimpededcommunicationsbetweenthetwoEK60andtheremotesystem.A
completetwo-waycommunicationsystemisthenused.
