Crisp fabrics cut on the crosswise grain form the sharpest pleats. Glazed fabrics handle
best if the glazed side is downward and the soft backing is next to the ruffler blade.

By using star
setting (straight
stitching) alternately with 6 or 12
space setting, pleats are formed in
groups. Even spacing between
groups is accomplished by counting
the number of stitches.
