1 Starting a seam The correct tension is an important factor because too little tension or too much tension will cause loose stitches or will cause the cloth to pucker. Make a test on a sample of cloth and thread that you intend to use. AJUSTES INICIALES A perfect, well-balanced stitch (illustration 1) will have locks between the two layers of fabric with no loops on top or bottom and no puckering. 2 For straight stitching To reduce tension, turn the dial to a lower number.
La tensión correcta es importante porque poca o demasiada tensión dará lugar a una costura frágil o recogerá el género. Antes haga una prueba, con una muestra del género y del hilo que usted pretenda utilizar. Overcasting is used to prevent the fabric edges to fray out. To involve the fabric edges with a stitch, zigzag stitching shall be used.
Starting a seam The needle and thread you choose will depend upon the cloth being sewn. The table is a practical guide to needle and thread selection. Always refer to it before beginning a sewing project. Be sure to use the same size and type of thread in both needle and bobbin. The clothes can be of any fiber: cotton, linen, silk, wool, synthetic, rayon or blends. They are listed according to weight. Note: Be sure to use original SINGER needles. Do not used deflected needles or made by other manufacturer.
