Installation Guide

Fireclay Care and Install
This sink is very heavy, so use two people when moving.
Installation:
Requires a solid support built into the cabinet which is why we highly recommend having a professional
cabinet installer or contractor install Fireclay farmhouse sinks. These sinks weigh 100 lbs. support
structure will need to accommodate the sink weight plus water and dishes weight. We recommend an
under mount install with a frame supporting the underside of the sink.
1) Make a template for the counter top by tracing the lip of the sink on a piece of cardboard or
paper, make a second line an inch inside the first line. This second line will be the cut out for
your countertop. Place it on your countertop where you want to install the sink.
2) Make sure the face front of the cabinet will fit the sink. The apron is approximately 10” inches
tall so measure 10” inches from the bottom of the counter top down. Cut the face front to
allow the sink to slide in and expose the apron front. If you are modifying a cabinet you will
have to lower the doors underneath the sink.
3) Install two 2x4’s running front to back in the cabinet so the sink can rest on them. You will need
extra support, attach four legs made from 2x4’s vertically from the cabinet floor to the bottom
of the front to back 2x4’s. The sink should rest even with the underside of the counter top. Use
a level to make sure the base of the sink is even and will drain correctly.
4) Place the sink in the support structure. Apply a bead of plumbing sealant around the rim of the
sink and install the countertop to create a watertight seal. Hook up the drain underneath
according to the drain instructions and the sink will be ready for use.
Cleaning and Care
Fireclay is strong, durable, and resistant to stains and scratches, but that doesn’t make the sink
impervious to scratches and stains. Don’t use harsh abrasive cleaners or rough, metal cleaning pads on
the sink. Use mild soap and water or general, all-purpose cleaners with a soft cloth on the sink. Don’ let
coffee or tea or other staining materials sit on the sink overnight. Don’t soak dishes in the sink for a long
time. If your sink develops any stains, use a mild abrasive, such as baking powder, on the sink.
