Inserting a side zipper
Stitching is visible on only one piece of fabric. Use this type of zipper application for side openings and
back opening The following procedure will describe how to stitch on the left side, as shown in the
illustration
A Attach zigzag foot "L".
• For details on replacing the presser foot, refer to "Replacing the presser foot".
B Sew straight stitches up to the zipper opening.
With the right sides of the fabric facing each other, sew reverse stitches after reaching the zipper
opening.
• For details, refer to "Basic stitching".
C Using a basting stitch, continue sewing to the edge of the fabric.
D Press open the seam allowance from the wrong side of the fabric
E Press the seam allowance so that the right side (the side that will not be stitched) has an extra
3 mm (1/8 inch).
F Align the zipper teeth with the pressed edge of the fabric having the extra 3 mm (1/8 inch),
and then baste or pin the zipper in plain
