Roady BT User Guide
Option 2: Bluetooth Installation Instructions
Important! Roady BT is only compatible with radios and headunits which support the Bluetooth
audio streaming protocol. If the vehicle radio/headunit only supports the Bluetooth phone protocol,
Bluetooth cannot be used for the Roady BT audio connection.
There are two methods of pairing Roady BT with your radio/headunit:
A. Pairing from Roady BT to the radio/headunit. In this method you will place the radio/headunit
into pairing mode to passively wait for a pairing request from Roady BT. You will select your
radio/headunit from a list of Bluetooth devices that Roady BT has discovered, and complete the
pairing and connection to the radio/headunit.
B. Pairing from the vehicle radio/headunit to Roady BT. Using this method you will place
Roady BT into pairing mode to passively wait for a pairing request from the vehicle radio/
headunit. You will select Roady BT from a list of Bluetooth devices that the radio/headunit has
discovered, and complete the pairing and connection to Roady BT.
While many vehicle radio/headunits support method A, not all do, and you may need to use method
B.
Begin with “Method A: Bluetooth pairing from Roady BT to the radio/headunit” on page 22. If you
discover that Bluetooth pairing must be initiated from your radio/headunit skip ahead to “Method B:
Bluetooth pairing from the vehicle radio/headunit to Roady BT” on page 24.
Bluetooth Support
Please be aware that there are many nuances in vehicle radio/headunits as to how each manufacturer
has implemented Bluetooth pairing and connection. To help make your Bluetooth installation as
easy as possible, SiriusXM has done extensive testing with many different radio/headunits and has
provided FAQs with tips and information to assist you if you encounter any difficulties with Bluetooth
(and other features).
