6.5 Connecting the Multifunction Relay
6.5.1 Procedure for connecting the multifunction relay
Procedure See
1. Select for which operating mode you would like to use the
multifunction relay.
see section6.5.2, page36
2. Connect to the multifunction relay according to the operat-
ing mode and the associated connection variant.
see section6.5.3, page36
and see section6.5.4,
page40
3. After commissioning the inverter, change the operating
mode of the multifunction relay, if necessary.

6.5.2 Operating Modes of the Multifunction Relay
Operating mode of multi-
function relay
(Mlt.OpMode)
Description
Fault indication (FltInd)
The multifunction relay controls a display device (e.g. a warning
light) which, depending on the type of connection, signals either an
error or the undisturbed operation of the inverter.
Self-consumption
(SelfCsmp)
The multifunction relay switches loads on or off, depending on the
power production of the PV system.
Control via communica-
tion (ComCtl)
The multifunction relay switches loads on or off according to com-
mands transmitted by a communication product.
Battery bank (BatCha)
The multifunction relay controls the charging of the batteries depend-
ing on the power production of the PV system.
Fan control (FanCtl)
The multifunction relay controls an external fan, depending on the
temperature of the inverter.
Switching status grid re-
lay (GriSwCpy)
The local grid operator may require that a signal is transmitted as
soon as the inverter connects to the utility grid. The multifunction re-
lay can be used to trigger this signal.
6.5.3 Connection Options
The connection procedures vary, depending on the operating mode.
