4. Using the device
4.1 Using the device in a local network
You can use the SAA04-05224A to connect a wireless LAN-enabled
computer to a local network with or without a DHCP server.
To connect a wireless LAN-enabled computer to a local network:
1. Switch the SAA04-05224A to AP mode. (Default SSID: AP_ xxxxxx),
then turn on the d evice.
2. Connect o ne e nd of the supplied RJ-45 cabl e to the Ethernet por t of
the device and the other end to the E thernet port of the lo cal n etwork.
3. Use the wireless LAN adapter software in the wireless LAN-enabled
computer to perform a Site Survey. Make sure the computer’s wireless
LAN adapter is set to Infrastructure mode.
4. Establish connection with the SAA04-05224A.
5. Set the IP c onfiguratio n o f the c omputer to esta blish c onnect ion t o
the local network. Verify your connection.
4.2 Re pla cing the computer Ethernet ca ble s
You can use the SAA04-05224A to r eplace your wireless LAN-enabl ed
computer cable co nnecti on to an ADSL o r c able modem.
To do this:
1. Switch the SAA04-05224A to AP mode. (Default SSID: AP_ xxxxxx),
then turn on the d evice.
2. Connect o ne e nd of the supplied RJ-45 cabl e to the Ethernet por t of
the device and the other end to the Ethernet por t of the ADSL or cable
modem.
3. Use the wireless LAN adapter software in the wireless LAN-enabled
computer to perform a Site Survey. Make sure the computer’s wireless
LAN adapter is set to Infrastructure mode.
4. Establish connection with the SAA04-05224A.
5. Set the IP c onfiguratio n o f the c omputer to esta blish c onnect ion t o
the local network. Verify your connection.
Use the Wireless Setting Utility to change the SAA04-05224A SSID
or encryption settings.
