Setting Up Admin and Installation Guide M700, M300 Introduction In a typical telephony system, the M-series base station is connected to the local area network (LAN) which, in turn, is connected to a PBX or an IP Service Provider. The base station converts IP protocol to DECT protocol and transmits phone calls to and from the DECT handsets. To be able to use the M-series DECT phones, the base station must be connected to your LAN and the handset(s) must be registered at the base station.
Setting Up Admin and Installation Guide M700, M300 Setting Up M700 Power Sourcing The M700 is provided with both power and the network connection via PoE (Power over Ethernet). The PoE cable is connected to the RJ 45 connector on the back of the unit (see Fig. 1, below). There is no separate jack for a power adaptor. Note: If your network does not have a PoE infrastructure, you can use snom's A5 PoE injector, product number 00004065, as a mid-span device to provide power.
Setting Up Admin and Installation Guide M700, M300 Wall or Ceiling Mounting The M700 can be mounted under the ceiling or on the wall. Prior to mounting the device under the ceiling or on the wall, you must remove the footstand of the unit and connect the Ethernet cable to the RJ 45 jack on the back of the unit. 1. P ress the tab (Fig. 2, arrow 1) on the footstand inward while simultaneously pulling the footstand away from the body of the device (arrow 2). 1 2 Fig. 2 Fig. 3 2.
