Sonos Setup
5
* During the setup process, you may be prompted to temporarily connect one of your players to your router
with an Ethernet cable if your device does not support standard wireless setup (see the Compatible
Operating Systems table above). At the end of the setup process, you can disconnect the Ethernet cable and
move your Sonos player to a different location.
Setting Up a New Sonos System
Step 1: (OPTIONAL) If you purchased a Sonos product to connect to your router,
connect it now with an Ethernet cable. Otherwise, skip this step.
Why would I connect a Sonos product to my router?
If you have a larger home where the WiFi performance isn’t reliable and you want to strengthen the
wireless performance of your Sonos system.
If your WiFi network is already in high demand with streaming video and web surfing and you want to
create a separate wireless network exclusively for your Sonos speakers.
If you have a 5GHz only home network (Sonos operates on 2.4GHz).
