Cleaning the image sensor
Cleaning (Advanced Operations)
If further cleaning is needed after using cleaning mode, clean the image
sensor using a blower, following the steps below.
Cleaning the image sensor using a blower
1 Perform the cleaning operation described in steps 1 to 4 of
“Cleaning the image sensor automatically using the camera’s
cleaning mode.”
2 Detach the lens (page 25).
3 Push the V mark on the mirror
lock lever with a finger to lift up
the mirror.
• Be careful not to touch the surface of
the mirror.

4 Use the blower to clean the image
sensor surface and the
surrounding area.
• Do not touch the image sensor with the
tip of the blower and do not put the tip
of the blower into the cavity beyond the
mount.
• Hold the camera face downward to
prevent the dust from resettling in the
camera. Complete the cleaning quickly.
• Also clean the back of the mirror using
the blower.
