Usable cassettes and playback modes
Selecting the cassette type
- CCD-TRV67/TRV87 only
You can use both Hi8 and standard 8 mm video cassettes on your camcorder _be n_vou
use a HL8 video cassette, recording and playback are camed out m tile HL8 system
When you use a standard 8 mm wdeo cassette, recording and playback are carned out
in the standard 8 mm system.
However, ffyou record ona Hl8vldeocassette rathe LP mode, recordmgls rained out
in the standard 8mm system
If you play back a tape recorded on a different video recorder on your camcorder, the
playback mode Lsautomatically selected according to the format in which the tape has
beenrecorded.
Thts Hi8 system is an extension of the s tanda rd 8 mm system, and was developed to
produce higher quahty pictures
You camlot playback a tape recorded in the Hi8 system correctly on video recorder/
players other thana HL8 wdeo recorder/player.
What is Video 8 E_l/video Hi8 E_ ?

The playback mode (SP/LP) and system, HI8 or standard 8 mm (CCD-TRV67/TRV87
only) are automatically selec ted accordmg to the format m which the tape has bee n
recorded The quahtyof the recorded picture m the LP mode, however, wdlnot be as
good as the SP mode.
Note on AFM HiFi stereo
- CCD-TRV87 only
When you play back a tape, the sound willbe monaural if
• You record the tape on your camcorder, then play it back on an AFM HiFl monaural
video recorder/player
• You record the tape on an AFM HiFi mona ural v_deo recorder, then play it back on
yourcamcorder.
Foreign 8 mm video
Beca use TV color systems differ from country to country, you may not be able to play
back foreign pre-recorded tapes Refer to"Usmgyour camcorder abroad" to check the
TV color syste ms used m foreign countries
