On power sources
• AC power cord (mains lead) must be changed only at
the qualified seladce shop.
• This system is not disconnected from the AC powez
somce (mains) as long as it is connected to the wall
outlet, even if tlie system itself ha s been tluned of£
On placement
• Place tile system in a location with adequate
ventilation to prevent heat build-up in the system.
• At high vohime, over long periods of time, the cabinet
becomes hot to the touch. This is not a malfimcfion
However, touching the cabinet should be avoided. Do
not place the unit in a confined space where
ventilation is poor as this may cause oveiheating.
• Do not block the ventilation slots by putting anything
on the system. The system is equipped with a high
power amplifier If the ventilation slots are blocked,
the trait can overheat and malfimction.
• Do not place tile system on a soft surface such as a rug
and do not block the ventilation holes.
• Do not place tlie system in a location near heat
soulces, or in a place subject to direct stmlight,
excessive dust, or mechanical shock.
On operation
• If the system is brought directly fiom a cold to a walm
location, or is placed in ave! 7 damp room, moisture
may condense on the lenses inside the system. Should
this occur, the system may not operate properly. In
this ca se, remove the disc and leave the system 0lined
on tbr about half an horn until the moisture
evaporates
• When you mo,¢e the system, take out any disc If you
don't, the disc may be damaged.
On adjusting volume
• Do not turn up the volmne while listening to a section
with very low level inptlts o! no audio si_mls If you
do, die speakers may be damaged when a peak level
section is suddenly played.
On cleaning
• Clean the cabinet panel and controls with a soft cloth
slightly moistened with a mild detelgent solution. Do
not use any type of abrasive pad, scoming powdel or
soh'ent such as alcohol or benzine
If you have any questions or problems concerning
your system, please consult your nearest Sony dealer.
On cleaning discs
• Do not use a commercially available CDiDVD
cleaning disc It may canse a malfimction.
On your TV's color
• It'file speakers shouh! canse the TV screen to have
color irregularity, mrn offthe TV at once then turn it
on after 15 to 30 minutes. If color inegularity should
persist, place the speakels t:arthel away from the set
The nameplate is located on the rear of the unit.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
Camion: This system is capable of holding a still
video image or on-screen display image on your
television screen indefinitely If you leave the still
video image or on-screen display image displayed
on your TV tbr an extended period of time you risk
permanent di_inage to your television screen
Projection televisions aie especially susceptible to
this.
On moving the system
When you can 7 the system use the following
procedure to protect the innel mechanism
1 Press FUNCTION repeatedly to select
"DVD."
2 Make sure that all discs are removed from
the system.
:3 Press • and I/(_) simultaneously.
"MECHA LOCK" appears in the front panel
display after 'STANDBY."
4 Remove the AC power cord (mains lead)
from the wall outlet (mains).
