Recording with an external
microphone
You can connect an optional external
microphone to the linear PCM recorder.

Connect an external microphone to
the MIC (microphone) jack of the
linear PCM recorder, and adjust the
position of the microphone.
For the characteristics of the microphone,
refer to the operating instructions supplied
with it.

When you connect an external microphone
to the MIC (microphone) jack of the linear
PCM recorder in stop mode, the “Plug In
Power” menu is displayed. To use a plug
in power microphone, select “ON. If you
select “OFF, the plug in power function is
disabled.

Follow steps 2 and 8 of “Recording
using the built-in microphones” (page
35) to start recording.
Notes
When an external microphone is connected to the
MIC (microphone) jack of the linear PCM recorder,
the built-in microphones cannot be used for
recording.
When “Plug In Power” is set to “ON, ” the linear PCM
recorder supplies power to a connected plug-in
power microphone.
Recording from external
equipment (Line Input)
You can connect an external device such as
a CD player, MD player, or DAT player to the
linear PCM recorder and record its playback
sound.

Connect the audio output jacks of the
external equipment to the LINE IN
(OPT) jack of the linear PCM recorder
by using an optional audio cable.

Set the INPUT switch to the “LINE”
position.

using the built-in microphones” (page
35).

Start playback on the external
equipment.

Press the PAUSE (or ) button
where you want to start recording.
The standby for recording mode is released,
and recording starts.
