Safety / Regulations Guide VAIO Computer Information Safety information ❑ Warning: This apparatus must be earthed. (Except the products with a 2-pin type plug.) ❑ Turning off your computer with the (power) button does not disconnect the computer completely from mains voltage. To disconnect it completely, unplug the AC adapter or the power cable from mains. The socket-outlet shall be installed near the equipment and shall be easily accessible.
On viewing 3D images ❑ ❑ Be sure to follow the instructions in the manuals that came with your VAIO computer when viewing 3D images. Some people may experience discomfort (such as eye strain, fatigue, or nausea) while watching 3D video images or playing stereoscopic 3D games. Sony recommends that all viewers take regular breaks while watching 3D video images or playing stereoscopic 3D games. The length and frequency of necessary breaks will vary from person to person. You must decide what works best.
Laser Caution (for VAIO computers with the optical disc drive) The optical disc drive of your computer is classified as a CLASS 1 LASER PRODUCT and complies with the Laser Products Safety Standard IEC/EN 60825-1. Caution - Repair and maintenance of this equipment should be made only by Sony authorized technicians. Improper repairs and use can create safety hazards.
VAIO notebooks and VAIO desktops with AC adapters ❑ ❑ ❑ ❑ ❑ ❑ ❑ 8 VAIO notebooks are designed to operate only with genuine Sony batteries. Therefore, and in order to guarantee a safe usage of your VAIO notebook, only a genuine Sony rechargeable battery pack should be used. It is highly recommended that you use a genuine Sony AC adapter supplied by Sony for your product. This AC adapter is intended for use with IT products only. Please do not use for other purpose.
VAIO desktops only ❑ ❑ ❑ ❑ VAIO desktops are for indoor use only. Some models have multiple country specific power cords supplied with them. Please use the power cord suited to the power outlet in your country. To disconnect your VAIO desktop completely from mains voltage, unplug the power cable. The socket-outlet shall be installed near the equipment and shall be easily accessible.
❑ ❑ 10 For models with the backup memory battery Your product is equipped with an internal backup memory battery that should not have to be replaced during the lifetime of the product. When the battery needs to be replaced, please contact an authorized Sony service/support center. For models used with dry batteries ❑ Danger of explosion if the battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer.
Disposal of Old Electrical & Electronic Equipment (applicable in the European Union and other European countries with separate collection systems) This symbol on the product or on its packaging indicates that this product shall not be treated as household waste. Instead it shall be handed over to the applicable collection point for the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment.

6 We would like to inform you that the diagnostic fee of your product shall be paid by you if: a) the diagnosis of your product performed by Sony or by an authorized Sony Service center proves that you will not be entitled to a repair under this guarantee (for whatever reason) to rectify the defect; b) or your product is working properly and no hardware fault could be diagnosed.
