Engine difficult to
start
Throttle control lever not in
correct starting position
Move throttle control lever to
fast position
Spark plug wire
disconnected
Connect spark plug wire to
spark plug
Choke not in the Choke
position
Move choke to Choke
position
Faulty spark plug Remove spark plug. Inspect.
Replace if necessary
Dirty Carburetor Take machine to an authorized
service center for carburetor
cleaning
Dirty air filter Refer to the separate Engine
Owner's Manual
Clogged fuel filter Remove fuel filter. Inspect.
Replace if necessary
Fuel tank empty or fuel
stale
Fill tank with clean, fresh
gasoline
Engine runs
erratically
Spark plug loose Connect spark plug wire
Choke in the Choke
position
Move choke to the run
position
Faulty spark plug Remove spark plug. Inspect.
Replace if necessary
Dirty air filter Refer to the separate Engine

Clogged fuel filter Remove fuel filter. Inspect.
Replace if necessary
Contaminated Fuel Drain fuel tank. Clean fuel tank.
Fill with fresh fuel
Carburetor out of
adjustment
Take machine to an authorized
service center for carburetor
adjustment
Excessive Vibration Loose parts or damaged
impeller
See authorized service dealer
Machine does not
discharge
Discharge area clogged Stop engine immediately and
disconnect spark plug wire.
Follow Cleaning the Impeller

Foreign object lodged in
impeller
Stop engine immediately and
disconnect spark plug wire.
Remove lodged object
Rate of discharge
slows considerably
or composition of
discharged material
changes
Low engine RPM Throttle control lever must be in
the fast position
Chipper blade dull Replace chipper blade or see
your authorized service dealer
