CalMAN Setup Guide

CalMAN takes advantage of the features of the Fujifilm IS-mini Image Processing System to calibrate a

video display with a 10-bit 26x26x26 3D cube lookup table (LUT) for use with SMPTE legal levels or with

full range video level signals. The IS-mini functions as a calibration target generator for video display LUT

calibration. This setup guide assists you in calibrating a video display with the IS-mini and the CalMAN

Color Cube workflow.

Recommended CalMAN Workflow:

 Color Cube (3D LUT)

Required IS-mini Firmware:

 All versions are acceptable

IS-mini Control Connection:

 USB A to USB mini cable (supplied)

 USB driver contained in SpectraCal Device Driver Kit

IS-mini Control Setup:

To set up an IS-mini for 3D LUT display calibration:

1. Install the IS-mini USB driver by running the SpectraCal Device Driver Kit, available for

download on the SpectraCal website. http://www.spectracal.com/download.php?id=3

2. Connect a USB cable between the IS-mini and your calibration computer.

3. Connect the IS-mini SDI or HDMI signal output to the video display to be calibrated (no input

signal is required to the IS-mini during display calibration).

4. Power on the IS-mini.

IS-mini Output Format:

The IS-mini output signal format is simply a pass-thru version of the input signal format, so there is no

setting provided or required. With no input signal, the IS-mini output defaults to 720p60. During display

calibration, the internal IS-mini pattern generator provides the output signal.

CalMAN 3D LUT Display Calibration

CalMAN can calibrate the 3D LUT in the IS-mini with a direct USB control connection. To produce an

optimized 3D LUT calibration file and automatically load it into the IS-mini:

1. In CalMAN, load the "Color Cube (3D LUT)" workflow.

2. Proceed through each step of the workflow in the normal fashion, using the following notes

for guidance on the indicated workflow pages.

3. On the CalMAN Session Setup page, click the Find 3D LUT Device button, then select "Fujifilm

– IS-mini (USB).”
