3.3.3 Testing with Fire Simulator Model 20/20-311
The Fire Simulator Model 20/20-311 can be used to simulate exposure of
the detector to a real fire condition. The detector is exposed to radiation at
the required detection level. As a result, the detector will generate a Fire
Alarm signal. See Long Range UV/IR Fire Simulator on page 57 for more
information.
Important: If the detector is exposed to a fire simulator, the Alarm and
Accessory Relays and 0-20mA are activated during the simulation.
Therefore, automatic extinguishing systems or any external devices, which
may be activated during this process, must be disconnected.
To perform Fire Simulator Test:
1 Power up the system and wait up to 60 seconds for the detector to turn
to a normal state. The Power LED turns on.
2 Aim the Spectrex Fire Simulator Model 20/20-311 at the target point of
the detector (Figure 14), in a way that the radiation emitted by it is
facing directly towards the detector. (See Long Range UV/IR Fire
Simulator on page 57).
3 Press the operation button once. After few seconds, a successful test
shows the results shown in Table 17.
