3.3.1 Hazardous Location Considerations
This equipment is suit able for use i n Cl ass I , Div ision 2, Groups A, B , C, D or non-
hazardous locations only. The following WARNING statement applies to use in
hazardous locations.
!
Attention
· EXPLOSION HAZARD
· Substitution of co mponents may impair suitability for Class I,
Division2.
· Do not replace components or disconnect equipment unless power has
been switched off or the area is known t o be non-hazardous.
· Do not connect or disconnect components unless po wer has been
switched off or the area is know n to be non-ha zardous.
· This product must be installed in an enclosure.
· All wiring must comply with N.E.C. article 501-4(b).
3.3.2 Prevent Electrostatic Discharge
!
Attention
Electrostatic discharge can damage integrated circuits or
semiconducto rs if you to uch analog I/O module bus connecto r pins or
the terminal block on the input module. Follow these guidelines when
you handle the module:
Touch a grounded object to discharge static potential.
Wear an approved wrist - strap gr ounding device.
Do not touch the bus connector or connecto r pins.
Do not touch circuit components inside the module.
If available, use a static-safe work station.
When it is not in use, keep the module in its st atic-shield bag.
1
Pollution Degree 2 is an environment where, normally, onl y non-co nductive pol luti on occurs exc ept that
occasionally a temporary conductivity caused by condensation shall be expected.
2
Over Voltage Categor y II is t he load level section of the ele c tr ical distribution s ystem. At this level transient
voltages are controlled and do not exceed the impulse voltage capability of the product’s insulatio n.
3
Pollution Degree 2 and Over Voltage Cate gory II are International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)
designations.
