Unusual Fire and Explosion

Closed containers exposed to temperatures above the boiling point may burst due
to build-up of steam pressure.

SECTION 6 ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES/DISPOSAL CONSIDERATONS
Personal Precautions:
Use proper personal protective equipment as listed in section 8.
Environmental Precautions:
Prevent spill from entering sewers, storm drains, streams, waterways, or other
bodies of water.
Spill Cleanup Measures:
Recover free liquid. Dike, contain or absorb remaining spilled material with inert,
absorbent material (e.g., dry sand or earth), and remove for disposal.
Regulatory Information:
Consult all regulations (federal, state, local, etc.) or a qualified waste disposal firm
when characterizing waste for disposal.
Waste Disposal:
Dispose of according to your local, state, and Federal EPA waste disposal
regulations to ensure compliance.
SECTION 7 HANDLING AND STORAGE
Handling:
Use with adequate ventilation. Avoid breathing vapor and contact with eyes, skin,
and clothing.
Storage:
Store in a dry, well ventilated area at temperatures between 35°F and 110°F, and
away from incompatible substances. Keep container tightly closed when not in
use.
Hygiene Practices:
Wash hands with soap and water after handling, especially before eating, or
drinking. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Avoid inhaling vapor or mist. Launder
contaminated clothing before reuse.
SECTION 8 EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION INFORMATION
Eye/Face Protection:
Wear appropriate protective glasses or splash goggles as described by 29CFR
1910.133, OSHA eye and face protection regulation.
Respiratory Protection:
Provide adequate mechanical (general and/or local) ventilation to maintain
constant fresh air in workspace.
Skin Protection:
Protective impervious gloves such as polyethylene are recommended. Wear
impervious clothing.
Other Work Practices and
Protective Equipment:
Avoid rubbing eyes during handling. Use good personal hygiene practices to avoid
incidental ingestion. Wash thoroughly with soap and water after use and before
eating or drinking. A source of clean water should be available in the work area
for flushing eyes and skin if necessary.
