IN101 Rev A 1018 33 Saber Way, Ward Hill, MA 01835 | homeaire.com
Your inline duct fan must be connected to a 120 volt ac, 60Hz fuse or circuit breaker protected power source only in
a manner approved by all applicable codes. Never connect your inline duct fan to a 240 volt ac blower motor or other
240 volt system. Note: HomeAire is not responsible for alternative wiring methods performed by the purchaser of this
product.
The ground wire (green) must be terminated at the furnace or other suitable ground. The power source must be
protected by a fuse or circuit breaker rated at a minimum of 15 amperes.
Operating range is 40°F (4°C) to 140°F (60°C). Exposure to temperatures outside this range voids the warranty.
GENERAL INSTALLATION NOTES
For maximum performance and minimum noise, the best location to install your inline duct fan is 6-10 feet from the
register that needs the boost.
To prevent air leaks use good quality duct tape to seal seams in ductwork after installing the inline duct fan. By
utilizing tapered reducers you may install larger diameter duct fans in smaller diameter ducts.
Always leave your inline duct fan accessible for maintenance, cleaning or repair.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
MODELS: IDF-4 / IDF-6 / IDF-8
1. Locate the place in the duct where you wish to install the inline duct fan. Align arrow label on unit in direction
of airow.
2a. Flexible Duct
Cut the exible duct and slide the inline duct fan in place by slipping the cut exible duct ends over the
crimped ends on the inline duct fan, making sure the unit is well supported. Complete the installation by
securing the inline duct fan to the exible duct with aluminum foil duct tape or nylon cable ties.
2b. Metal Duct
Remove a section of the existing ductwork and slide the inline duct fan in place by slipping the duct ends
over the crimped ends of the unit. Complete the installation by securing the inline duct fan to the metal duct
with #6 sheet metal screws spaced evenly around the circumference on each end of the unit.
3. Finish the installation by covering the seams in the duct with aluminum foil duct tape.
4. Fan has been designed to allow for plugging into an existing 120v outlet or hardwired by an electrician.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
HomeAire recommends that you clean your inline duct fan at regular intervals similar to what is recommended for
the fan of your furnace, and no less than twice a year. Keep your inline duct fan free of lint, dust, and debris. The
inline duct fan must never be exposed to temperatures over 140°F (60°C).
