Mechanical Interlocks
Managing multiple power sources is simple with Schneider Electric
mechanical interlocks. Schneider Electric provides several options for
mechanically interlocking molded case circuit breakers in the range of 600 A
and below. All of these options comply with the standards of Underwriters
Laboratories and are certified with a UL label.
With the reliability of a mechanical design, Schneider Electric mechanical
interlocking systems can be used to maintain essential loads during a power
outage. Mechanically interlocked circuit breakers are intended to prohibit
both power sources from being simultaneously connected to the load. The
interlocking system disables one circuit breaker by mechanically preventing
handle movement from the Off position while the other circuit breaker is in
the On position.
Options for interlocking toggle handles or rotary handles are available for
PowerPact H-frame, J-frame, D-frame, and Q-frame circuit breakers.
Interlocking with Toggle Control
S29354 for PowerPact H- and J-frame
and S32614 for PowerPact L-frame
The S32614 mechanically interlocks L-frame circuit breakers. The S29354
interlocks H-frame circuit breakers, J-frame circuit breaker, or a combination of
the two, providing the ability to interlock circuit breakers of different ampacities.
• Interlocked circuit breakers can be of the fixed or plug-in mounting
configurations.
• Accepts one or two padlocks with diameters of 0.19–0.31 in. (5–8 mm).
• Two sliding interlocking bars can be used to interlock three circuit
breakers installed side-by-side, in which case one circuit breaker is in
the ON (I) position and the two others are in the OFF (O) position.
