GX1600/GX1700
External GPS Connections (4800 baud)
NMEA Input (GPS Information)
The GPS must have the NMEA output turned on and set to 4800 baud in
the setup menu. If there is a selection for parity select none.
For further information on interfacing /setting up your GPS. Please
contact the manufacturer of the GPS receiver.
The GX1600 and GX1700 can read NMEA-0183 version 2.0 or higher.
The NMEA 0183 input sentences are GSA, GSV, GLL, GGA, RMC and
GNS (RMC sentence is recommended for position information).
NMEA Output (DSC and GPS Information)
The NMEA 0183 output sentences are DSC and DSE.
GSA, GSV, GLL, GGA, and RMC sentences can be output in the
GX1700 by setting through the GPS setup menu (refer to section 14.11
NMEA OUTPUT (GX1700)”).

NOTE (GX1700)
When the GPS reception is limited, such as the ush mounting of the
GX1700, the NMEA input (+) (blue) and NMEA input (-) (green) wires
may be connected to the NMEA output connections of an external
GPS antenna or a GPS chart plotter. To change the GX1700 from
using the internal GPS antenna to the external GPS antenna, refer
to section 14.9 GPS SELECTION (GX1700)” (for selection), and
14.1 UNIT POWER (GX1700)” (for turn off).
