Thissectionexplainshowto installingLotus 1-2-3for use withyourStar
LaserPrinter4. For detailedinformation,referto theLotusGettingStarted
manual.
First, addthefollowingcommandstotheAUTOEXEC.BATfile,depending
on parallelor serialinterfaceused.
Parallel:If yourprinteris connectedto thecomputer’sparallelportLPT1,
addthe followingcommandto the AUTOEXEC.BATfile:
MODELPT1:,,P
Serial:If yourprinterisconnectedto thecomputer’sserialportCOM1,add
the followingcommandto the AUTOEXEC.BATfile:
MODECOM1:9600,N8,1,P
MODELPT1:=COM1

IftheLotus1-2-3hasnotbeeninstalled,youmustinstallitbeforeprocee-
ding.Atthe DOSprompt,typeLOTUSandpress [RETURN].Thiscauses
thecomputerto displaythe 1-2-3AccessSystem.
Movethe cursorto “Install”,thenpms [RETURN] to run the INSTALL
program.Lotusmay ask youto inserttheUTILITYdisk.Thiswilldisplay
the MAINMENU. You can selectyourprinterfollowingthe procedure
below.
1)Select “Change Selected Equipment”and press [RETURN], which
displaysthe SelectedEquipmentscreen.
2) Select“TestPrinter(s)”andpress [RETURN],whichdisplaystheText
Printer(s)screen.
3) Select “HP” and press [RETURN]. This displaysthe Text Printer(s)
screen.
4) Select“2686LaserJetor LaserJet+”andpress [RETURN].
The printertype for textshas been selected.To selecttheprintertype for
graphics,goback to the SelectedEquipmentscreen.
