COPYandTYPEdonotpermityouto executeothercommandswhilethe
file is printing.
Ifyouwantaparticularfont,orprintpitch,youcanmakethesesettingsfrom
the controlpanelbeforeyou stantprinting.See Chapter2.
IfyouprintfromtheDOScommandlevelveryoften,itwillbeadvantageous
to createaprintersetupfile.Theninsteadof settingfontetc.manuallyeach
time, you can complete the setup with a single command from your
computer.For example,youcancreatea filecontainingprintercommands
toselectletterquality,andselectelitepitchwiththeStandardmode.Youcan
findthe commandsin Chapter4. We suggestthe following:

<ESC>“!” <1>is a powerfulcommandthat, in additionto selectingelite
pitch,cancelsunwantedfeaturessuch as underliningwhichmightbe left
frompreviouscommands.Theanglebracketsaroundthecl> indicatechar-
actercode 1,whichis a controlcode,not theprintabledigit” l“.
You may wantto placeadditionalcommandsin this file, such as left and
rightmargins,linespacingandbottommargincommands.Oryoumaywant
to createiavarietyof setupfileswith a differentset of commandsin each.
To avoidexcesslinefeeds,youshouldplacethe commandsononelinein
thesetupfile.Youmayormaynotbeabletogenerateasetupfilewithword-
processingsoftware;it dependson whetheryour softwarelets you enter
controlcodes.If yoursystemincludesthefileEDLIN.COM,however,you
caneasilycreatea setupfile withthe DOS lineeditor.
AnappropriatenameforthissetupfilewouldbeLQELITE.DAT.Tousethe
DOSlineeditor,typethecommandEDLINLQELITE.DAT,thentypethe
underlinedpartsofthefollowingdisplay.PressRETURNattheendofeach
line.Donottypethesymbol“A”.ThissymbolmeanstoholdtheCTRLkey
downwhilepressingthenextkey:forexample,‘V meansto typeCTRL-V.
‘C meansto type CTRL-C,whichindicatesthe endof the input.
