Frequently Asked Questions

1. Middle DP port stopped displaying proper resolution after working fine for a few days.

 This is not an issue with the MST Hub this is a windows issue. Resolution is associated

with a certain monitor in windows and can be changed through screen resolution monitor

controls. The MST hub simply send the appropriate DP signal to the attached monitor

from the information the Operating system and Video card tell it.

2. Was not able to ever get both my monitors working unless on boot.

 Could possibly have been an incompatible PC or video card.Please contact the technical

support team for further assistance.

3. Unit randomly turns on and off, disconnecting monitors.

 Can be a case of faulty unit or power adapter. Unit should be replaced by Technical

Support RMA. You may also contact the technical support team for further assistance.

4. Worked fined for a week. After that the computer start to hang up frequently because of this

connected equipment.

 It is unlikely that a video output connection would cause the computer to stall. Suggest

you to contact the Technical Support team as the information is insufficient here.

5. Would not work with my graphics card

 Incompatibility issue, Display port must be 1.2 spec to support this device.

6. Did not function with extending connectors

 MSTMDP123DP will work with both Active and Passive adapters. On startech.com

under accessories there is a list of adapters that work with the unit and have been tested.

7. Does not work for 1, 2 or 3 monitors

 Likely customer attempting to use the MSTMDP123DP with a computer that was not

compatible. (Insufficient information to have any idea what could be wrong)

8. I couldn't get my video card to recognize the unit.

 Insufficient information. Could be compatibility issue.

9. Does not work with ThinkPad Lenovo Laptop.

 Lenovo Thinkpad is a blanket term for an entire line of laptops. Including Thinkpad, X,

T, W, 11E, Yoga, Helix, X1 Carbon, and L. There could be hundreds of different

configurations spanning years. Kindly ensure you are not using older thinkpad without

DP1.2

10. Doesn't work in Windows. Only works in Bios. Computer is DisplayPort 1.2 ready.  Once the computer has booted into windows the screen may turn off and need to be extended in the screen resolution tab in windows.
