A passage with ngering slides
When the source and destination notes are suciently close horizontally, ngering slides are
shown between the
ngerings, joining them directly in their existing positions without moving
them. When the source and destination notes are far apart horizontally, ngering slides appear
with a xed length to the left of the destination note. You can change the length of individual
ngering slides.
Fingering slides automatically avoid obstructions, such as noteheads, accidentals, and other
ngerings.
NOTE
●
Dorico SE automatically adjusts the length/angle of ngering slides when you move the
ngerings at the start/end.
● In Dorico SE, you can only show ngering slides on staves belonging to fretted instruments.
You can show string ngering shift indicators on staves belonging to other string
instruments.

Hiding/Showing ngering slides
You can hide/show slides between notes played by the same left-hand nger on the same string
on fretted instruments.
NOTE
These steps only apply to ngerings belonging to fretted instruments.
PREREQUISITE
● You have input the same left-hand ngering for the notes at the start and end of the slides.
●
You have specied the same string for the notes at the start and end of the slides.
PROCEDURE
1. Select the destination notes before which you want to hide/show ngering slides.
2. In the Properties panel, activate/deactivate Slide in in the Fingering and Positions group.
RESULT
Fingering slides are shown before the selected notes when Slide in is activated, and hidden
when it is deactivated. If the gap between the source and destination notes is small enough,
ngering slides appear as an angled line joining the ngerings. If the gap is large, ngering
slides appear as a xed length angled line to the left of the destination notes.
