Front matter in Dorico SE is a broad term that covers all information included before the rst bar
of music in scores.
Front matter includes musical information often added on pages before the rst pages of scores,
such as:
Performance instructions
Contents
Instrumentation list
Front matter also includes information above the music on the rst page of scores and parts,
such as:
Dedications
Titles
Subtitles
Composers

Project information used in default master pages
An ecient way of ensuring all text information in the different layouts in your project is
consistent is to use tokens that link to information for the current project entered in the
Project
Info dialog.
Tokens are codes that refer to text elsewhere, meaning they are updated automatically if the
source text is changed.
The default master pages in Dorico SE include tokens, so that any information you add about the
project in the Project Info dialog is automatically shown. For example, the Default Full Score
master page set includes tokens for the following information:
Composer
Lyricist
Title
NOTE
These tokens refer to the project by default. If you only enter information for ows in the Project
Info dialog, that information does not automatically appear.
