Instructions / Assembly

Check framing for correct rough opening, general recommendation is 38-1/2” width X 82 height”. Check to see if the oor is level; some
shimming under one jamb may be required.
INSTALLATION
Steves Iron Doors are hand forged and individually
nished in an Old World Bronze nish. Minor
dierences in the door and nish are normal and
are expected to achieve their hand made look.
They are designed for installation in new construction
and retro-t in existing homes and can be installed in
both 2 “x 4” and 2” x 6” stud walls.

Step 2
Check framing to ensure it will be secure enough so there is no movement in the door after installation (your door installation is only
as good as what you bolt it to). Note: For retro-t installations, it is necessary to remove the sheetrock behind all of the anges so the
bolts will not hinder the ability to install interior casing after the door is installed.
Step 3
Set the frame only (without door installed), centered in the rough opening. Check for plumb and level. Clamp the upper anges or
manually hold the door frame in place untill upper lag bolts are installed in the center of the large hole in each upper ange
(step 5 below).
Step 4
Pre-drill and install one 3/8” x 3” hex head lag bolt in the center of the large hole in each of the
bottom anges (figure 1). Hole is slotted to allow for some minor adjustments during later steps.
Then level, plumb and square the frame.
Step 5
Once level, plumb and square, pre-drill and install one 3/8” x 3” hex head lag bolt in the center
of the large hole in each of the upper anges. Install only one at this point allowing for
minor adjustments during later steps.

GUIDE
*Note: Level, plumb and square is a starting point only. Later adjustments are
normal when working with Iron Doors that may require a slight out-of-level,
plumb and square condition.
Hang the door panel by sliding the female hinge located on the door
panel over the male hinge pin on the frame. It may be helpful to hold
the door panel at a 90 degree position from the frame when
performing this step.
