‘S’ Register Commands
To set the value of an S Register the command is in the form:
ATSr=n – where r is the register and n is the value to be placed in the S Register.
The value of the S Register can be read with the ATSr? Command where r is the register.
Examples
Type: ATS2=64 <CR> Sets S Register 2 with a value of 64
Type: ATS51? <CR> Displays S Register 51 with the Unit Address (Phone number).
ATS0 Rings Before Answer
Supported for compatibility only, reports OK.
ATS2 Escape Character
Range: 0-255 Default: 43 (the + character)
'S' Register 2 contains the ASCII values of the character that form the escape sequence.
The default value for this register is 43. The modem will recognise three + characters (+++) as
the escape sequence.
Examples
ATS2=36 - Recognises three dollar symbols ‘$$$’ characters as the escape sequence
ATS2=45 - Recognises three minus ‘---‘ characters as the escape sequence

ATS7 Wait for Carrier
Range: 1-60 s Default: 10 s
S Register 7 contains a value, in seconds, equivalent to the length of time the modem will wait for
a carrier signal after dialing. If a carrier is not detected within the time specified in this register, the
modem will hang up and return a NO CARRIER message.

ATS7=20 Wait up to 20 seconds for a connection
