STIHL Cut-Retardant Clothing
Read these instructions carefully and keep all information in a safe
place.
To guarantee the best possible protection and comfort when using this
safety product, it is essential that you read and observe the following
information.
1. Warning!
No cut-retardant clothing can provide complete protection against
injuries from chainsaws. The level of protection offered depends on a
great number of factors (e.g. engine speed and torque, severity and
duration of contact with the tool, angle at which the bar contacts the
fabric, working position - stooping or upright, etc.).
The effects/damage caused by a chain speed of 20 m/s under
standardized test conditions do not necessarily correlate with the
effects caused by a hand-held chainsaw operated at 20 m/s. This, and
the user
s experience, should be taken into account when selecting
suitable personal protective equipment.
This personal protective equipment (PPE)/cut-retardant garment is no
substitute for safe working techniques. Incorrect use of the power tool
can cause accidents. It is therefore essential to observe all local safety
regulations, standards and ordinances as well as the safety precautions
and instructions given in the instruction manual of your power tool.
Before each use, check the condition of the product (e.g. optical
condition). Discard the product immediately if it is damaged or has been
modified.
2. Warning!
Surveys have shown that contamination (by, for example, tree resins,
oil or fuel residues in the material) can have a negative effect on the
function of the cut-retardant clothing. The number of times the clothing
is cleaned or washed can also (due, for example, to the mechanical
effects of the washing machine) reduce the effectiveness of the cut-
retardant clothing. Cut-retardant clothing requires special care and
should be cleaned regularly. Improper cleaning and care may have a
negative influence on the garment
s protective function. In order to
ensure the best possible protection, the following rules for cleaning and
care of the cut-retardant clothing should be observed.
Any modification of the product may have a negative influence on its
protective function. For this reason do not attempt to modify the product
in any way. Immediately discard products that have been modified.
This protective product has been designed for the users of hand-held
chainsaws. There is no protective function against other dangers (e.g.
other applications such as the construction industry, contact with
electric power/current, work with cut-off machines, non-standard or
modified chains, power tools, rescue saws, saws for materials other
