English MultiSystem Guide to Using this Manual Pictograms All the pictograms attached to the machine are shown and explained in this manual. + Symbols in text WARNING + 469BA028 KN Warning where there is a risk of an accident or personal injury or serious damage to property. In the STIHL MultiSystem, various MultiEngines and MultiTools are combined to form a machine. In this Instruction Manual, the functional unit of MultiEngine and MultiTool is referred to as a machine.
English Use only high quality tools and accessories in order to avoid the risk of accidents and damage to the machine. STIHL recommends the use of genuine STIHL tools and accessories. They are specifically designed to match the product and meet your performance requirements. The deflector on this power tool cannot protect the operator from all objects thrown by the attachment (stones, glass, wire, etc.). Such objects may ricochet and then hit the operator.

English Never work on steep slopes because of the risk of injury through loss of control of the power tool. Opening the throttle while the attachment is blocked increases the load and reduces engine speed. The clutch then slips continuously and this causes overheating and damage to important components (e.g. clutch, polymer housing components) – and this can increase the risk of injury from the cutting attachment moving while the engine is idling.
English Working in an alternating backwards and forwards motion is particularly suitable for loosening packed soil. Bolo tines Using the Unit Working in a steady backwards or forwards motion is particularly suitable for working loose soil. 469BA018 KN General Cultivator MultiTools are available in versions with pick tines (BF-MM) and bolo tines (BK-MM). Bolo tines are particularly suitable for working cultivated, lighter soils.
English 469BA020 KN Cleaning the rotor blades Only loosen the surface soil around plants. Avoid going too deep as this could damage the shallow roots of some plants. To avoid any damage to the cultivator or trees, be wary not to catch the blades on the large roots of trees. N Approved MultiEngines Parts of plants, e.g. roots, can become tightly wrapped around or between the rotor blades during operation. To clean the rotor blades: – Wear gloves. – Pull the hitch pins out of the axle.
English Mounting the MultiTool 2 Removing Existing MultiTools NOTICE It must not be possible to rotate the gearbox on the drive tube. 3 WARNING Mounting the MultiTool N Gearbox output shaft (1) below the drive tube (2). Arrange the blades in the order they will be fitted on the shaft, noting the following points: Left-hand and right-hand blades are different. The direction of rotation is marked with arrows on the gearbox and blades. Direction of rotation (3) of MultiTool.
English N Starting / Stopping the Engine Starting the Engine N Always follow the starting procedure described in the MultiEngine instruction manual. Check that the MultiTool is not touching the ground or any other obstacles. The unit must rest on the engine flange and the support on the frame. Make sure you have good balance and secure footing – as shown in the illustration. Storing the Machine For periods of about 3 months or longer N Remove, clean and inspect the rotor blades.
English Maintenance and Care The following intervals apply to normal operating conditions only. If your daily working time is longer or operating conditions are difficult (very dusty work area, etc.), shorten the specified intervals accordingly.

Toujours tenir fermement la machine à deux mains, par les poignées.

français Vérifier l'outil de travail à de courts intervalles réguliers – et immédiatement si le comportement de l'outil change : – Arrêter le moteur, tenir fermement la machine. – Contrôler l'état et la bonne fixation – s'assurer qu'aucun début de fissuration n'est perceptible. – Des outils de travail défectueux doivent être remplacés immédiatement, même en cas de fissures capillaires minimes. Au cours du travail, également, nettoyer régulièrement la zone de l'outil de travail et du capot protecteur.
français Sarcleuse Utilisation Technique de travail Indications générales 1 La sarcleuse convient tout particulièrement pour écroûter la terre et pour travailler et aérer les sols compactés. La gamme d'outils MultiSystème pour le travail du sol comprend les versions suivantes : sarcleuse BF-MM et cultivateur BK-MM. On peut travailler avec le moteur MultiSystème équipé de couronnes de couteaux en avançant (1) ou en reculant (2).
français Pour ne pas risquer d'endommager le matériel ou les arbres, mener la machine de telle sorte qu'elle ne se prenne pas dans les racines des arbres. Pour briser la croûte durcie d'un sol déjà cultivé (par ex. jardins potagers ou platebandes de fleurs de l'année précédente), il faut tout d'abord nettoyer la surface. Enlever la mauvaise herbe et tous les restes de plantes, de même que les objets durs tels que les pierres, bouteilles, morceaux de bois etc.

N introduire et encliqueter la goupille élastique (6) dans le trou de l'arbre – appliquer la goupille élastique à plat contre la couronne de couteaux ; N monter les couronnes de couteaux du côté gauche en procédant de la même manière.
