English KombiSystem In the STIHL KombiSystem a number of different KombiEngines and KombiTools can be combined to produce a power tool. In this instruction manual the functional unit formed by the KombiEngine and KombiTool is referred to as the power tool. Therefore, the separate instruction manuals for the KombiEngine and KombiTool should be used together for the power tool.
English The use of noise emitting power tools may be restricted to certain times by national or local regulations. To reduce the risk of accidents or injury, put off the work in poor weather conditions (rain, snow, ice, wind). Special safety precautions must be observed when working with this bed redefiner because it has a sharp cutting blade that rotates at a very high speed.
English Wear heavy-duty work gloves made of durable material (e.g. leather). To reduce the risk of serious burn injuries, avoid touching hot parts of the machine, including the gearbox housing. quality parts and accessories in order to avoid the risk of accidents and damage to the machine. STIHL offers a comprehensive range of personal protective clothing and equipment. Transporting in a vehicle: Properly secure your power tool to prevent turnover, fuel spillage and damage.
English emergency. To avoid damage, do not throw the power tool to the ground when practicing. Clear scrub, cuttings, stones, solid objects, etc. from the work area. During Operation still rotates when the engine is idling, have your dealer check your machine and make proper adjustments or repairs – see KombiEngine service manual. To reduce the risk of injury, avoid contact with the blade. Make sure you always have good balance and secure footing.
English If your power tool is subjected to unusually high loads for which it was not designed (e.g. heavy impact or a fall), always check that it is in good condition before continuing work – see also "Before Starting Work". Make sure the safety devices are working properly. Do not continue operating your power tool if it is damaged. In case of doubt, have the unit checked by your servicing dealer.
English Cutting Attachments and Deflectors attachment to the rear – maintain a safe distance from the cutting attachment at all times. Using the Unit Your bed redefiner is suitable for recutting existing flowerbed edges to restore their sharp contours. Redefining produces a sharp angled furrow. Adjusting Cutting Depth 2 1 9924BA001 KN A The arrow on the deflector shows the direction of rotation of the cutting blade – see "Using the Power Tool".
English Redefining bed edges N Cut steadily so that the engine is not lugged down – do not apply force. N Operate at no more than a normal walking pace. N Do not push the blade into the ground. N Always pull the power tool, do not push it forward. Always keep the power tool on the lefthand side of your body with the cutting attachment to the rear – maintain a safe distance from the cutting attachment at all times. N The arrow (1) on the deflector indicates the direction of operation.

English Mounting the Gearbox Mounting the KombiTool 2 9924BA009 KN 5 N N N Loosen the clamp screw (1) on the gearbox (2) – do not remove it. Push the drive tube (3) into the gearbox, turning it back and forth at the same time. N 2 Line up the drive tube (3) in the gearbox (2) so that the lug (arrow) on the drive tube points vertically upwards when the depth wheel (5) is upright. 1 002BA326 KN 2 3 9924BA011 KN 1 N Tighten down the clamp screw firmly.
English Starting / Stopping the Engine NOTICE Do not stand or kneel on the shaft! Starting the engine WARNING To start the engine, basically follow the instructions for use for the KombiEngine or basic power tool! If the engine is started, the blade may rotate as soon as the engine is running – therefore blip the throttle trigger as soon as the engine is running – the engine begins to idle. Switching off the engine N For periods of 3 months or longer N Remove, clean and inspect the cutting blade.
English Replacing the Skirt Have a worn depth wheel replaced by a servicing dealer. STIHL recommends that you have servicing and repair work carried out exclusively by an authorized STIHL servicing dealer. Replacing the Cutting Blade STIHL recommends the use of only genuine STIHL blades – see "Special accessories". Removing the skirt 1 N The end of the thread on the screw (1) is peened over to ensure that the wingnut (2) does not work loose and be lost. N Take out the screws (1).

English Checking and Replacing the Wear Guard Replacing the wear guard 1 N 9924BA016 KN 3 N Remove the cutting blade if necessary – see "Replacing the Cutting Blade". Check the wear guard (1) for damage before starting the power tool. N Remove screws (3) with a standard T 20 Torx screwdriver. N Fit the new wear guard (1). The wear guard must be replaced as soon as the gearbox (2) (arrow) becomes visible. N Insert the screws and tighten them down firmly.

English Definitions 1 2 3 Cutting Blade Metal cutting blade for redefining bed edges. Deflector Designed to reduce the risk of injury from foreign objects flung backwards toward the operator by the cutting attachment and from contact with the cutting attachment. Drive Tube Encloses and protects the drive shaft between the coupling sleeve and gearbox. 4 Depth Wheel Deflector-mounted depth wheel rolls on ground and keeps cutting blade at preset height for redefining.
English Disposal 000BA073 KN Observe all country-specific waste disposal rules and regulations. STIHL products must not be thrown in the garbage can. Take the product, accessories and packaging to an approved disposal site for environmentfriendly recycling. Contact your STIHL servicing dealer for the latest information on waste disposal.

français Prescriptions de sécurité et techniques de travail D'une manière générale, respecter les instructions suivantes : En travaillant avec le dresse-bordures, il faut respecter des prescriptions de sécurité particulières, parce que le couteau très acéré tourne à très haute vitesse. Respecter les prescriptions de sécurité nationales spécifiques publiées par ex.
français Ne pas porter des vêtements qui risqueraient de se prendre dans le bois, les broussailles ou les pièces en mouvement de la machine. Ne porter ni écharpe ou cravate, ni bijoux. Les personnes aux cheveux longs doivent les nouer et les assurer (foulard, casquette, casque etc.). Porter des chaussures de sécurité avec semelle antidérapante et coquille d'acier.
français revendeur spécialisé. Utiliser exclusivement des outils ou accessoires de haute qualité. Sinon, des accidents pourraient survenir ou la machine risquerait d'être endommagée. – les poignées doivent être propres et sèches, sans huile ni autres salissures – un point très important pour que l'on puisse manier la machine en toute sécurité. STIHL recommande d'utiliser des outils et accessoires d'origine STIHL.
français Le capot protecteur du dresse-bordures ne peut pas protéger l'utilisateur contre tous les objets (pierres, morceaux de verre ou de fil de fer etc.) projetés par le couteau. Ces objets peuvent ricocher et toucher l'utilisateur.
français revendeur spécialisé STIHL. Les revendeurs spécialisés STIHL participent régulièrement à des stages de perfectionnement et ont à leur disposition les informations techniques requises. Prise en mains et utilisation – Arrêter le moteur ; – mettre des gants ; – enlever l'herbe, les mottes de terre (engorgement !) etc. 002BA547 KN Au cours du travail, également, nettoyer régulièrement la zone de l'outil de travail et du capot protecteur.
français l'herbe coupée et les objets soulevés sont projetés dans le sens opposé à la machine et à l'utilisateur – voir « Utilisation ». Utiliser la machine uniquement avec le tablier correctement fixé sur le capot protecteur – voir « Remplacement du tablier ». N Utilisation Le dresse-bordures est conçu pour rectifier soigneusement les bordures de plates-bandes déjà aménagées. Le passage de cette machine forme un sillon propre et à pan incliné. Manipuler correctement le couteau – voir « Utilisation ».
français A Les irrégularités du sol, la taille de l'utilisateur et sa position de travail influent sur la profondeur de coupe (A), c'est pourquoi il faut ajuster la roue (2) de telle sorte que le couteau (3) touche le sol lorsqu'on se tient dans la position de travail normale ; 9924BA006 KN N N serrer fermement l'écrou à ailettes dans le sens des aiguilles d'une montre.
français N mener le couteau en se référant à la baguette de visée (1) qui indique la position du bord de coupe. Outils de coupe autorisés Utiliser exclusivement des moteurs CombiSystème livrés par STIHL ou sur lesquels le montage de cet outil a été expressément autorisé par STIHL.
français Montage du réducteur 2 1 2 Enlever les capuchons de protection des extrémités du tube (demi-arbre) et les conserver pour pouvoir les remonter plus tard – voir « Rangement ».
français Montage de l'outil CombiSystème Mise en route du moteur 2 1 002BA326 KN Pour la mise en route, suivre impérativement les instructions données pour le moteur CombiSystème ou pour la machine de base ! Introduire le téton (1) du tube à fond dans la rainure (2) du manchon d'accouplement ; 9926BA009 KN N poignée de commande – voir la Notices d'emploi du moteur CombiSystème ou de la machine de base. Mise en route / arrêt du moteur 4 002BA327 KN 3 serrer fermement la vis à garot (4).
français enlever le couteau, le nettoyer et le contrôler ; N si l'outil CombiSystème est conservé séparément, sans être accouplé au moteur CombiSystème : emboîter le capuchon de protection sur le tube pour éviter l'encrassement de l'accouplement ; N conserver la machine à un endroit sec et sûr. La ranger de telle sorte qu'elle ne puisse pas être utilisée sans autorisation (par ex. par des enfants). Si la roue est usée, la faire remplacer par un revendeur spécialisé.
français Préparatifs Remplacement du couteau STIHL recommande d'utiliser exclusivement des couteaux d'origine STIHL – voir « Accessoires optionnels ». 1 9924BA026 KN A B AVERTISSEMENT Ne pas redresser ni souder un couteau (1) usé, tordu ou fissuré – il risquerait de casser ! – Il faut impérativement le remplacer.

N N Glisser la clé multiple (5) sur la vis (6). N Desserrer et dévisser la vis en tournant dans le sens des aiguilles d'une montre (filetage à gauche).

Capot protecteur Réduit le risque d'être blessé par des corps étrangers projetés en arrière, vers l'utilisateur, par l'outil de coupe, ou par suite d'un contact avec l'outil de coupe. 3 Tube Renferme et protège le demi-arbre d'entraînement entre le manchon d'accouplement et le réducteur.
