A bent or cracked blade must not be
straightened or welded – it may break
completely! Such blades must be
replaced – see “Fitting the Cutting
Blade”.
STIHL recommends the use of genuine
STIHL cutting blades – see “Special
Accessories“
: Replace the blade (1) when its
length (A) is no longer sufficient to
maintain the necessary ground
clearance (B) and obtain the
required depth of cut (C).
To avoid out-of-balance:
check cutting blade on STIHL
balancer – see “Special
Accessories“.
Do not resharpen the blade!
Checking the Wear Guard
Before every use:
: Check the wear guard (1) for
damage.
: The wear guard must be replaced
as soon as the deflector (2) (arrow)
becomes visible at the latest.
The gearbox may be seriously
damaged if you do not replace the
wear guard in good time.
Replacing the Wear Guard
: Remove the cutting blade – see
chapter “Fitting the Cutting Blade”
: Take out the screws (3).
: Fit the new wear guard (4).
: Insert screws and tighten down
firmly.
: Fit the blade – see chapter “Fitting
the Cutting Blade”.
