22 Inspection and Maintenance
22.1 Inspection and Maintenance Chart
22.2 Inspecting and Maintaining the Trimmer /
Brushcutter
WARNING
To reduce the risk of personal injury from unintended
activation, remove the connecting cord before inspecting the
trimmer / brushcutter or carrying out any maintenance, @ 6.
Carry out only the maintenance operations described in this
manual. There are no user-authorized repairs. STIHL
recommends that repair work be performed by authorized
STIHL servicing dealers.
To properly maintain the trimmer / brushcutter:
► Have a worn deflector, mowing head or metal cutting
attachment replaced by an authorized STIHL servicing
dealer.
► Have worn, missing or damaged safety labels replaced by
an authorized STIHL servicing dealer.
If you make a warranty claim for a component that has not
been serviced or maintained properly, coverage may be
denied.
22.3 Lubricating the Gearbox
WARNING
The gearbox becomes hot during operation. To reduce the
risk of burn injury, avoid contacting the gearbox while it is
still hot following operation. Wait for the gearbox to cool
down before performing this operation.
22 Inspection and Maintenance
Always remove the connecting cord before carrying out any inspection, cleaning or maintenance.
The following maintenance intervals are examples and apply for normal operating
conditions. Actual use and your experience will determine the frequency of required
inspection and maintenance.
